The PA Core Standards and the Common Core State Standards are a set of learning expectations for students in Language Arts and Mathematics. They provide a clear and consistent understanding of what students are expected to learn and do in order to prepare them for success in college and the workplace. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has adopted the PA Core Standards, thus requiring K‑12 public schools within the Commonwealth to align curriculum to the PA Core Standards, which are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.
