Future Forward Teaching and Learning

To help our students thrive both in school and as contributing citizens after graduation, they need learning opportunities which prepare them to succeed in a variety of postsecondary and career pathways.

INCREASE in-house programming opportunities and pathways across all grade levels to support and supplement various postsecondary goals.

  • Analyze the elementary and secondary programming to ensure course options align with various career and college pathways.

  • Review, update, and monitor student placement practices across all grades and content areas.

  • Design transition programming at key transitional stages to promote greater belonging and success for all students and staff.

ESTABLISH a holistic framework and system of analyzing student learning to inform programmatic and instructional decisions.

  • Identify key skills and competencies to measure student success.

  • Analyze current metrics and develop a framework and system to evaluate the academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of students relative to the vision of the UM Future Ready Graduate.

  • Provide professional development for staff to analyze and utilize data to inform instructional and programmatic decisions.

ENHANCE opportunities for targeted professional development to ensure staff and programs are prepared to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Ensure professional development provides staff with targeted learning opportunities that equip them with the knowledge and skills to meet the academic, behavioral and emotional needs of all students including but not limited to:

    • Multi-tiered systems of Support and Tiered Interventions

    • Support teacher planning and preparation to improve and optimize learning for all.

    • Leverage technology efficiently to enhance planning and better address student learning needs.

  • Provide dedicated time for teacher and staff collaboration and job-embedded professional learning throughout the year.

  • Gather participant feedback to measure the effectiveness and implementation of professional development and use feedback to inform ongoing planning and support for all staff.

STRENGTHEN partnerships with local businesses and organizations to incorporate experiential and real world opportunities which will enhance student learning and help prepare students for success as engaged and contributing citizens after graduation.

  • Develop and maintain a District database of business and community partners inclusive of contact information, areas of partnership interest (e.g., internships, field trips, visit schools, sponsorship), and record or partnership activities with the District.

  • Strengthen relationships with businesses and organizations through inviting and/or including representatives in events to get to know Upper Moreland students, staff and programming. Events may include open house for businesses, local workforce development pipeline planning, or students/staff presentations at local business/organization meetings.

  • Enhance opportunities for businesses and organizations to educate and cultivate student learning through authentic, real world experiences, including but not limited to, field trips (in-person or virtual), presentations, curriculum-aligned lessons and activities, job shadowing, internships, and work study.
