Dear Upper Moreland Community,

We have been informed by the Upper Moreland Police Department (UMPD) of a road closure on Davisville Road in the areas of York, Moreland, and Easton Roads near the railroad tracks. At this time, we do not have an estimated time when the road will reopen. In a message to the community, UMPD has asked drivers to avoid this area and use an alternate route.

Due to the closure and resulting changes in traffic patterns, families, staff, our high school student drivers, and our buses may experience delays in this area and surrounding roads this afternoon. Our Transportation Department has notified families through Here Comes the Bus that we may experience delays during dismissal today and will continue to provide updates through the app if conditions change.

Please stay alert and drive safely as you traverse the township this afternoon. We appreciate your patience as we navigate the changing traffic conditions.

Big congratulations to Ryan Schernecke on signing with the New York Giants! 🏈

A Hatboro native & Upper Moreland High School graduate, Ryan went on to play at Kutztown University, where he helped lead the team to a 14-1 season and a trip to the Division II national semifinals. Ryan earned All-America honors and was named a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award.

Last month, UMHS’s Black Student Union hosted a vibrant Black History Month Festival celebrating history, culture, & community! Students designed posters highlighting influential figures and their contributions to Black history as part of an engaging gallery walk. The celebration also included soul food, line dancing lessons, and opportunities for students to come together and learn from one another. #UMProud

Yesterday, students & staff across our schools honored Patriot Day by wearing red, white, & blue and joining together in a moment of silence. Throughout the day, students reflected on bravery, kindness, & resilience.

⭐ @ UMPS & UMIS, students created flags and crafts to take home. First graders discussed what it means to be brave & kind, learning that not all heroes wear capes, and colored American flag hearts. Fourth graders read ‘The Man with the Red Bandana’, the story of 9/11 hero Welles Crowther, & then wrote thank-you notes to local community heroes.

⭐ @ UMMS, students paused to remember the 2001 attacks, reflecting on the lives lost as well as the unity and courage shown in the days that followed.

⭐ @ UMHS, students watched ‘Boatlift: An Untold Tale of 9/11 Resilience’ and discussed the strength & resilience demonstrated by everyday people during that time.
