Marching Arts
Upper Moreland HS currently offers students three extracurricular marching arts programs for interested students:
The Upper Moreland Marching Unit ("UMMU") - a traditional marching band that produces a dynamic field show each year and performs at various area competitions, festivals and football games. The marching band also performs as a pep band at football games to support our Golden Bears. The marching band season begins in May, runs through the summer, and ends in November. There are typically 2 evening rehearsals per week, Friday night football game performances, and festival/competition performances on select Saturdays during the fall.
The Upper Moreland Winter Guard ("UMWG") - an indoor color guard ensemble that features innovative flag and weapon pageantry along with modern choreography to create a unique indoor guard show each year. The Winter Guard typically rehearses 2 - 3 times per week starting in December and runs through the end of April, performing at regional competitions on Saturdays throughout the season.
The Upper Moreland Indoor Percussion Ensemble ("UMIP") - an indoor percussion unit that features a variety of marching percussion, mallet percussion and electronic instruments and performs a unique indoor percussion show each year. The Indoor Percussion unit typically rehearses 2 - 3 times per week starting in December and runs through the end of April, performing at regional competitions on Saturdays throughout the season.
