Congratulations to the December UMHS Rotary Student of the Month, Josephine “Joey” O’Connor!

Joey is a dedicated leader, scholar, and environmental advocate. She serves as Student Council President, Class of 2026 Vice President, Co-President of the Environmental Club, and Co-Captain of Color Guard.

Her passion for environmental science extends beyond school. Joey volunteers at the Briar Bush Nature Center, participates as a Conservation Ambassador with the Wildlife Leadership Academy, and has joined the Schuylkill Acts and Impacts program to study the human effects on river ecosystems.

Joey also supports numerous school and community initiatives, including the grant-writing team to establish an aquaponics lab, Mini-THON’s sponsorship committee, the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, and the UMHS Thrift Corner. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and works part-time as a dining server.
