Good Morning!    Today is Friday,  March 24, 2017. 

   

Attention Class of 2018 - Senior Portraits at UMHS April 3-7, 2017 in the Auditorium.  Please make sure you are scheduled for an appointment on one of these days.  If you have not done so, please contact Prestige Photography at 1-800-687-9327.  If you have scheduled an appointment and aren’t sure of the date and time, please stop in the Main Office and see Mrs. DiSandro.  There will be a required $2.00 sitting fee.  A make up session will be scheduled at the high school for July 19 and 20, 2017.  If you don’t have your portrait taken on either of these dates at the high school, you will have to schedule an appointment at the Prestige Photography studio.  

 

The following Club members should report to the library for yearbook pictures on Tuesday, March 28 during homeroom.  Please check in with your homeroom teacher first before coming to the library:  French Club, Debate Team, German Club.

 

The Lost & Found is located in the bottom level of the cafeteria.  Right now, the Lost & Found is currently overflowing.  Please check the box for any lost items.  Lost & Found items will be donated to an appropriate charity THIS Friday.

 

Any students interested in entering a poetry contest see Mrs. Powidzki in the library. Poems can be no more than 20 lines. The contest is held through the American Library of Poetry and the top prize is $500. Entry must be submitted by April 30th. 

 

Do you or your family have shoes that you no longer wear but someone else could??  UMHS students traveling to Costa Rica are hosting a shoe drive! Bring in your gently used shoes and place them in the box near the attendance office. All sizes, styles, and seasons of shoes needed!!

 

Order your 2017 Yearbook now.  There are only a certain number of yearbooks, so order yours while supplies last!  You must order online at www.jostensyearbooks.com.    Yearbooks are $75.   Any questions see Mrs. Christensen or Mrs. Anderson.

 

Today’s lunch choices:    Spicy or Regular Popcorn Chicken w/Roll,  Cheese or Pepperoni Calzone w/Dipping Sauce, Steak Sandwich, Buffalo Chicken or Plain Pizza, assorted salads and sandwiches.

 

In honor of Women's History Month, Upper Moreland High School would like to invite all females in grades nine through twelve to participate in our guest speaker series planned for March 28 - March 31, 2017.   A different influential woman from our area has been invited to speak on each day of the series.  Sign-up sheets will be posted on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.  Sign-up quickly to reserve your seat!  Students not on the sign up list may not attend.

Guidance News

 

Attention senior students!   

The guidance department is currently taking applications for the prestigious Joseph Hagy Award for Service handed out by the Willow Grove Rotary Club. The award is a $1,000 scholarship to the recipient.  If you have strong academic standing and are involved in community service, please see Mrs. McDermott in the counselor’s office to get your application. The deadline to get applications is Friday March 24th. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. McDermott or Mr. Cannon.

The Upper Moreland Education Association is offering several $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors who have a GPA of 80 percent or higher and have shown consistent contribution to the school through participation in school activities. The recipient should be enrolled for the fall 2017 semester in a post high school education program including college, trade school, or a nurses’ training institution. You can pick up the application in the Guidance Department beginning today March 17th.  Completed applications should be returned to Mrs. Raginsky in Room 809 by April 18th at 2:30pm

All students interested in Eastern must have their enrollment forms signed and submitted by 3/31. Additional Eastern enrollment forms can be found in guidance.

 

Attention juniors and seniors:  remember to check your NAVIANCE account for updated information regarding college planning, SAT's, PSAT's and scholarships. 

 

Attention Sophomores and Juniors looking for a great summer opportunity!
PA Free Enterprise Week -  
PFEW is a week long program, held in the summer in Williamsport, PA. This unique program, designed for high school sophomores and juniors, furnishes the perfect opportunity for students to learn about different career opportunities. Students work together as a management team to run their own business and learn about the free enterprise system., all while experiencing college life. Learn more about this program and scholarship opportunities at www.pfew.org .  Interested students can pick up an application at the Guidance Office. Final deadline: 4/7/17

 

Seniors - Do not forget to get your Paw Print!!   Bring in your College Acceptance letters to the Guidance office. 

 

 Junior and Seniors - College Open house information can be found in Naviance, under Family connection.  On left side of Family connection under Pages Click "College Open Houses".   Always reference a specific college's website, for up to date information about their Open Houses. 

 

Students looking for Scholarship information-Log into NAVIANCE, go to Family Connections, click on the Colleges Tab.  Or through Scholar Snapp on the Common App!  Do not forget that you can look into each college’s website for additional college specific scholarships. Stop at the Guidance Office also to see most current information.
