Mr. Kevin Burke - Assistant Principal

Mr. Burke earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton. He started his teaching career as a grade teacher in the School District of Philadelphia, where he taught 2nd through 6th grade. Mr. Burke attended Gwynedd Mercy University, where he earned his Master’s in Education, Principal Certification, as well as his Supervisory Certificate in Curriculum and Instruction. Upon completion of his coursework, Mr. Burke was hired by Cheltenham School District. Over his 17-year tenure within the district, he served as an Elementary Principal as well as Assistant and Vice Principal of the middle school. In 2009 while at Cedarbrook Middle School, he created an Instructional Focus Team that was recognized as the grand prize winner from the National Middle School Association for “Teams That Make a Difference”. This award provided the team the opportunity to speak and present at the National Conference and to publish their narrative in the NMSA National Magazine. Dr. Brown, the co-author of “What Every Middle School Teacher Should Know”, was so impressed with the work of the team and the presentation that he visited Cedarbrook Middle School and cited the efforts of the team throughout his book.

In 2010 and again in 2013, Mr. Burke and the team he developed earned the distinguished Don Eichhorn “School to Watch” designation for Cedarbrook Middle School. This recognition was the first for any middle school in Montgomery County. In 2018, Mr. Burke transitioned to Wissahickon Middle School, where he served as an Assistant Principal and contributed to a charter school in Philadelphia.

When Mr. Burke is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and his three children, Dylan, Declan, and Darby. He also has the best dog in the world, a mini-golden doodle named Dexter. Mr. Burke loves to spend his free time playing basketball and at the New Jersey shore. Kevin is looking forward to working with the administrative team, all the professionals, students, and families at Upper Moreland Middle School.
