    Good Morning!       Today is Friday, January 19, 2018.   


    Join in on our Mini THON spirit week! Monday will be red pajama day. Tuesday will be Tropical Tuesday. Wednesday is Meme Day. Thursday is THON Thursday. Friday is Crazy Socks Day. Our 6th Annual Mini-THON is next Saturday,1/20, from 6pm to 12am. It's not too late to raise money to help beat pediatric cancer!   And To all Mini-THON Dancers:  if you have offline donations (cash or checks) please bring them in and give them to Ms. Dale or to Mr. Cohen (in guidance office) before Mini-THON so they can be approved and credited to your donations!!  FTK


    The next GSA meeting will be on Monday, January 22nd from 2:45 - 3:00 pm in room 904. We will take the yearbook photo at this meeting.


    All Seniors who are going on the Disney Trip please be sure to bring in your final payment of $355.00 is due TODAY.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Vesper in Guidance.


    Boys Tennis will meet in the Audion on Tuesday at 2:16 pm.  Contact Coach Summers if you cannot attend.


    Hey, Bear Buddies, your help is needed! Please sign up for our next after school event on Jan 25 from 2:30-4:30 pm. The theme for this month is "Staying Active" so be ready to move and have fun! Sign ups to volunteer and bring snacks are outside of room 304. Please see Mrs. George or Mrs. Young with any questions.


    Attention LEAP students. This month's breakfast seminar will take place Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 AM in the library. All LEAP students are encouraged to attend.


    Key Club members: Believe it or not, our first meeting of the new year is this Monday at 7 pm in the auditorium.  Information on convention, nominations for next year’s officers, and new volunteer opportunities will be discussed tonight.  Please make every effort to get out for this meeting.  If you haven’t received your Key Club t shirt, here’s your opportunity to pick it up.


    Football off season workouts will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:40 to 4:00 in the weight-room.  If you are interested in coming out for the football team, you are welcome to and encouraged to attend!


     Need some extra support with your school work?  Want to complete assignments right after school?  The After School Assistance Program (ASAP) is held in room 404 after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40-3:40pm.  Tutors are available to support with remediation and midterm preparation.  Students can sign-up with a UMHS teacher.  See Mrs. Franczkowski for more information.   


    Today’s lunch choices:    No lunches offered due to early dismissal.  Grab and go lunches are available for purchase.

    Perseverance is the grit and drive we use to push forward in spite of obstacles.  At UMHS we can support each other through simple acts of kindness.  Our efforts will help individuals “Find A Way” and overcome life’s challenges.  Today’s make a difference challenge   -    ask someone “How can I help you?”  And actively listen.  Tomorrow’s make a difference challenge – Pick up litter or trash.  Sunday – Hug a friend or family member.

    Sunny Florida is coming to Pennsylvania! The University of South Florida is hosting an information session on Sunday, February 4th 2018 at 1:00 PM.  Held at Hyatt Place in King of Prussia.  Get USF swag & giveaways, meet USF admissions staff and a light lunch will be served.     Interested in a Career in Sports?!  Sports Career Forum is hosting an event on February 18, 2018, from 8:00 AM - 4:00 AM at Saint Joseph's University. Areas of discussion are: Sports Administration, Broadcasting & Journalism, Event Marketing and much more. Stop by Guidance for more information if interested. Registration and a paid fee are required. 


    Did you ever wonder what it would be like to run a business? Open to  high school sophomore or junior who dreams of being your own boss someday? Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) is a week-long, summer camp opportunity for you to find the answers to these questions and so much more! Scholarship opportunities available! Stop by the Guidance Office for more information and an application.  Early Bird  Registration Deadline - March 2, 2018.       Final Deadline - April 6, 2018


    Current Sophomores and Juniors - Interested in Business, Health Care or Agriculture?    Lehigh University, The University of Pittsburgh and Penn State are offering 4 week summer programs for 2018.   Application Deadline for the upcoming summer is February 15, 2018.     Attention Seniors!   - Do not forget to bring in your acceptance letters and scholarships to colleges as you receive them.  Bring them into the Guidance office to receive your PAW PRINT on the wall.
