Student Announcements


    Good Morning, today is  Thursday,  March 12,  2020.   Today is a PURPLE day.


    Please rise for the pledge of allegiance.  I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.   You may be seated.


    The Ping Pong Club is canceled today but will resume next Thursday.


    Join us in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day by Rocking Your Socks! March 21st is a day to celebrate our differences and we'll be kicking things off a day early on Friday, March 20. Everyone is encouraged to wear their most colorful, fun and even mismatched socks. Even our Golden Bear will be rocking some socks so be sure to check them out!


    Attention Athletes:  There will be another “Signing Day” on April 21st for athletes that will continue their athletic career at the college level.  Please come down to the Athletic Office and let Mrs. Meade know if you are signing (and didn’t participate in the December Signing Day) so we can establish a date without conflicts.  It is the responsibility of the athlete to let the Athletic Office know if they are interested in signing.

    This Sunday from 9-11:30 am the UM Environmental Club will be sponsoring a Free-a-tree and Creek Clean-Up.  We will be working to clean up the stream area at the front of Upper Moreland High School.  The area along the stream is full of invasive vines that are growing up and killing the native trees.  We will be cutting the vines with prunes and then pulling them from the trees. We will also clean up the stream bank of trash and other debrief. Family members are welcome to join the cleanup!   ALL MINORS NEED A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP. You can get a permission slip outside Mr. Walton's room 905, in the main office, or check your email for more details. Come show your bear pride in helping to make the school campus a better place!


    The Diversity Club will be meeting after school in room 404 on Tuesday, March 17th. We will be discussing Women's History Month. Anyone is welcome to join, previous attendees should check their email for updates.

    SENIORS  Many seniors still have not ordered their Cap & Gown for graduation.  Please log on to www.jostens.com and order your cap & gown as soon as possible.  The cost is $35.00 and the package includes a cap, gown and tassel. The last possible date to order, and still receive your cap and gown in time for graduation is Friday April 17th.                                                                    

    SENIOR DUES - Many seniors still have not paid their Senior Dues.  Dues are $25.00 and are an obligation. Dues must be paid in order to receive your diploma.  Please turn your senior dues in at the main office. Checks can be made payable to Upper Moreland HS. 

    Bear Buddies, your help is needed! Please join us for our next after school activity on March 19 from 2:30-4:30 pm in room 304. Sign-ups to volunteer and bring snacks are outside of room 304. Please see Mrs. George or Mrs. Young with any questions.


    Seniors, UMEA offers 2 $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors.  The application form for the scholarship can be picked up in the guidance office and must be submitted by April 9, 2020.  Any questions, see Mrs. Raginsky in room 809.


    Attention all Juniors! The Junior Prom is  Friday, April 17, 2020 from 6:30 to 10:30pm. This year Upper Moreland High School’s Junior Prom will take place at Philmont Country Club. Tickets will go one sale from March 2nd  to March 16th for a price of $70. Ticket prices will then increase to $80 from March 17th to March 27th. Final numbers must be submitted on the 27th and no tickets will be sold after that date Tickets MUST be purchased before or after school in Mrs. Lipenta’s room (904).


    Key Club is sponsoring a Blood Drive on March 19th in the library.  If you are 17 or older, you do not need parent permission, students younger than 17 must have parent permission.  All information and forms are available at the main office, attendance office and athletic office. 


    The Class of 2023 and the Class of 2022 will host a Spring & Shout Dance on March 20, 2020 entitled “Starry Night.”  The dance will be held in the UMHS auxiliary gymnasium from 7PM – 10PM.  Tickets for the event are $15.00 and will be sold during all lunches beginning March 5th.  This is an semi-formal event for the Freshman and Sophomore students.  Guests are welcome with a permission slip.  Class officers are also seeking parent volunteers for the decorating committee.  Interested volunteers should complete the sign-up genius as it becomes available. 


    Attention Seniors:  If you are interest in speaking at Commencement, please submit a 1/1/2 to 3 minute speech to Mr. Ferrarrello by Wednesday, April 15, 2020.  Speeches will be evaluated by staff and qualifiers will be notified.  Please see your English teacher for details.


    ASAP is back!   ASAP will begin meeting again in the library every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30.  ASAP is available to all students who may be looking for a quiet space to work on homework, an easy meeting place to host a study group, or an NHS tutor to work with for help with a specific class.  Stop by room 412 to sign-up in advance or just sign-in when you arrive.     Seniors please bring your college acceptance and scholarship letters to the Guidance office to receive your Paw Print.  You can also email your letters to Rsadowski@umtsd.org.


    Seniors need to hand in a Release of Student Records before requesting transcripts through Naviance.
