    Good Morning, today is  Wednesday,  October 16, 2019.    

     

    Please rise for the pledge of allegiance.  I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.   You may be seated.

     

    Any student who borrowed a temporary lanyard from the attedance office, please return it to the attendance office or face lunch detention and you will be charged for the lanyard.

     

    Unity Day is coming up next week  on October 23 and our school is getting ready to celebrate kindness, acceptance, and inclusion in a united effort to prevent bullying!  We want everyone to think about kind actions they can do for others, to include those who are feeling left out, and to accept people’s differences.   We’re  encouraging you to wear ORANGE on Unity Day and see how ORANGE Upper Moreland HS can go. Stay tuned for more information about Unity Day go ORANGE give aways !

    UMHS fall clothing sale is happening now through October 31st.  Come to main office or room 809 for order forms.   Questions?  See Mrs. Raginsky.

     

    UM Matter Bear Den will be open for Walk in Wednesday before school and after school starting today.  UM Matter Bear Den is accepting non perishable food item donations!

     

    The Blood Drive is this Friday in the library.  Appointment times will be given out in first block.  If you don’t get an appointment slip, come down to the library to confirm or change your time.  Please make sure to drink plenty of fluids and eat breakfast before the drive.

     

    QuizBowl will meet TOMORROW after school in room 614.

     

    High School athletes and music participants will be able to hand in their physical forms and activity fee paperwork and payments from October 25th through November 8th  from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   Paperwork, fees and physicals should be submitted to the High School Main Office or High School Athletic Office. Athletes and music participants will not be able to participate in tryouts unless this paperwork has been handed in prior to 8:00 AM on Monday, November 11th.   Reminder to athletes – PIAA Physicals must be dated after June 1, 2019 (Indoor Percussion and Indoor Guard Activity does NOT require a physical). Athletes, Indoor Guard and Indoor Percussion will not be eligible to participate in tryouts unless this paperwork has been handed in and processed. PLEASE NOTE: There could be a 24 hour delay for paperwork to be processed.  Athletes who did a fall sport, and were not injured, need only complete Section 7 of the PIAA physical paperwork (located on our school district website).  See Mr. Feeley or Mrs. Meade with any questions.  

     

    Pink Out shirts are being delivered to juniors and seniors on Tuesday morning.  If you ordered a shirt, but did not receive it, please see Mrs. Grossi in Room 810 before or after schooltoday or tomorrow.  If you didn't order a shirt, but are interested in purchasing one, you can purchase them from Mrs. Grossi in Room 810 on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday next week (10/23 to 10/25).  Pink Out is Friday, October 25th.

     

    Are you interested in writing or taking pictures? The school newspaper is looking for new members to join the BEARPRINT. Our first meeting is Tuesday October 22 after school in room 902. Please see Mr. Casey if you have any questions.

     

    Attention Seniors signed up for the Disney trip: Payment 2 of $334.00 is due THIS Friday by 2:30 PM. If your payment is late, you will be charged a $25.00 late fee. 


    The first GSA Club meeting of the year will take place in room 904 TOMORROW from 2:35 - 3:05.

     

    Reminder to staff and students:  all cars parked on the property need to have their parking hang tag visibly displayed inside the car.  Cars not displaying hang tags will be ticketed or towed.

     

    ASAP is back!   ASAP will begin meeting again in the library every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30.  ASAP is available to all students who may be looking for a quiet space to work on homework, an easy meeting place to host a study group, or an NHS tutor to work with for help with a specific class.  Stop by room 412 to sign-up in advance or just sign-in when you arrive. Hope to see you there!   

     

    Reminder to all students:  Athletic passes are avaible for purchase at the Athletic Office for high school students only.  Passes are $25 and will allow entrance to all home football games, basketball games and wrestling matches!  Great deal!  See Mr. Feeley for more information.

     

    Another reminder to students attending home football games here at the high school.    If you are not present at school the day of a game, you  may not attend the game!  Backpacks, open containers and footballs will not be allowed in the stadium.  Also, there is no re entry, once you leave the stadium, you may not return!

    Guidance News:

     

    Attention Sophomores:  Are you interested in becoming an effective leader in your school and community? Consider applying to become a HOBY Ambassador. The selected student will have the opportunity to attend a three day leadership seminar in June. Interested students should pick up the application instructions in the HS Guidance Office. The deadline to apply is 11/1 at 8:00am. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Vesper in the Guidance Office.

     

    Attention Juniors & Seniors-   Upper Moreland High School will have colleges coming to visit during the day.  This is a wonderful opportunity to hear information about a college you may be interested in from their admission representative.  Please check your Naviance account to see which colleges are coming and when.  In Naviance you can sign up for each college visit. You must register by 3pm the day before each visit to be able to attend.  You are limited to attend 3 to 4 visits per year.  The following colleges will be visiting UMHS:

     

    Culinary Art Institute of Montgomery County Community College  TOMORROW at 1 pm

    University of Toronto Undergraduate Only  Friday at 9 am

    Washington College Friday at 11 am

    Binghampton University Friday at 1 pm

     

    Seniors need to hand in a Release of Student Records before requesting transcripts through Naviance. Find a copy in the Senior Newsletter and on the guidance website.  

     

    Attention Seniors, there are spots available for the Kutztown and Gwynedd Mercy Instant Decision Days. If you plan to apply to either of these schools, take advantage of meeting with the rep and getting an instant decision.  You must apply two weeks before the date.   Gwynedd Mercy is scheduled for 11/6 and Kutztown in 11/8.      Sign up on the Guidance website.
