UMMS Return to School Overview

  • At A Glance: Hybrid Learning at the Middle School

    With the hope that COVID-19 metrics for the county remain aligned with established benchmarks by Monday, November 2, the summary below is provided to give you an understanding of how hybrid learning will be achieved within the Middle School. More specific details will be provided in the weeks ahead.

    Please be aware that all details below are subject to change.

    Our Vision for Teaching and Learning:

    Upper Moreland Middle School is committed to providing  consistent and quality instruction for all students regardless of their educational setting, while keeping health and safety as our main priority. We believe in the importance of engaging students both within our school and while they are learning at home.

    Our Approach to Hybrid Instruction

    Our Hybrid Model will align to the current schedule that is in place, while providing students with online learning labs that will be staffed to support students with their virtual learning.

    A daily schedule would consist of the following:

    • In-person and virtual office hours will be held each morning from 7:50 AM to 9:00 AM;
    • Learning Labs staffed with teachers and faculty will support students as they engage in their virtual instruction while their teachers instruct them through the virtual platform;
    • An adjusted schedule will provide all students asynchronous time in the afternoon to complete their assigned work from home;
    • Breakfast and lunch will be available for all students;
    • All CDC, State, and Local requirements  for hand-washing, social distancing, and mask wearing will be strictly enforced

    Engagement and Support:

    The entire Middle School community is committed to fostering the success of students, whether they opt for 100% virtual or hybrid instruction.  To support students, it is important to note that students selecting either options must commit to that model through the next marking period. Students and parents will have access to in-person or online meetings with counselors and administrators as needed and requested.

    We look forward to seeing everyone very soon and are here to address any questions or concerns you may have.
