Dear Upper Moreland Families:
At the August 11, 2020 Programs and Services Committee Meeting of the Upper Moreland Township School Board of Directors, the administrative team shared an overview of the plan for a virtual return to school for all students. This plan, called our Bear DEN Virtual School, is more structured, robust and synchronous than the Continuity of Learning Plan from Spring of 2020 and the Remote Learning Plan reviewed at the July 30, 2020 Committee of the Whole Meeting of the UMTSD Board of Directors. For more information, please see the Bear DEN Virtual School document by clicking here.
Our virtual model aligns with Pennsylvania Department of Education recommendations for Determining Instructional Models.
In addition, the team provided an overview of the steps currently being taken to successfully open school in a virtual environment. A summary of those steps may be found in the Upper Moreland Township School District Return to Learning Plan, which may be accessed by clicking here.
The School Board will be approving the District Health and Safety Plan (click here) at its August 25, 2020 Legislative Meeting Currently, the District continues to operate activities associated with Athletics and the Marching Unit under Phase II of the Safety Guides that were approved in June. This is aligned with the current PIAA delay of the fall sports season for two weeks. Any further decisions concerning athletics and activities will be based upon guidelines and recommendations from local and state officials.
The District Administration, Staff and Teachers continue to work diligently to provide a stable and meaningful learning environment for the students of Upper Moreland. We appreciate your continued support, input and feedback.
The Upper Moreland Township School Board and Administrative Team
