    Beginning January 1, 2019 - We are no longer requiring returning volunteers to update your Volunteer Request form and Affirmation form each year. Once approved, you will remain on the approved volunteer list for 5 years.  Your forms and clearances, including your TB Screening Report, will remain on file for 60 months (5 years from the date of the oldest clearance submitted). Your volunteer packet will remain active as your child moves from one school building to the next over the course of the five year period.

    Upper Moreland Township School District values the contributions made by all of its volunteers and appreciates the time and effort provided by you to support the students and staff of the school district.  The safety of the children is our number one priority and as such, the District has developed procedures for those wishing to become an approved volunteer.  To ensure the safety and welfare of our students, and to comply with current applicable state and federal laws, the Upper Moreland School District has developed the following procedures for those wishing to volunteer:

    New volunteers:   Clearances for new volunteers may not be more than one year old (No Exceptions).  These clearances will expire in 60 months (5 years) from the date of the oldest clearance submitted. (example: if your Child Abuse clearance is dated 1/5/17 and everything else is dated 8/2/17, all of your clearances will need to be renewed by 1/5/2022). The TB Screening will remain on file for five (5) years as well.

    Since July 1, 2017, anyone wishing to volunteer in the Upper Moreland School District have been required to have all 5 (and in some cases 6) documents/clearances required in order to be an approved volunteer.  This includes all CHAPERONES/HOME & SCHOOL ASSOC./BOOSTER CLUB/MUSIC PATRONS/POST PROM/COACHES/ LIBRARY/and CLASSROOM volunteers. 

    Once you are approved to volunteer in the UMTSD, you may choose to volunteer not only in your child’s school, but for any volunteer opportunity within the District.

    1. New Volunteers: If you are a new volunteer for 2018-2019 or you were not on the “approved volunteer list” last school year, you will need to submit your clearances and other required documents as a complete packet. Your clearances must be no older than one year.
    2. Employees of UMTSD: Complete the Volunteer Request Form and check the box for “I am an UMTSD Employee and my clearances are on file in the Human Resources Office.”
    3. Returning Volunteers: If you were not on the Approved Volunteer List for the 2017-2018 school year but were on in 2016-2017 and did not update your paperwork in 2017-2018, you will need to complete a new packet with new clearances and a new TB Screening Report.

    If you were on the Approved Volunteer List for 2017-2018 or you already updated your paperwork between July 1, 2018 & December 31, 2018 there is nothing more for you to do – your paperwork will remain active for five (5) years from the date of the oldest clearance submitted.

    FORMS AND LINKS:  All of the required forms are available on the School District website by clicking “VOLUNTEER FORMS”.  Clicking on the name of the form (link) will take you to the required document or the State/Federal website where you will apply for your clearances.

    Do not send your packet in to the school with your child.  You may drop off complete packets to Dawn Hurt in the Administration Building anytime between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Fax them to 215-659-0904, or scan and email them as a pdf (do not take a picture with your phone)  to dhurt@umtsd.org.  Again, thank you for your willingness to volunteer in the School District.  We hope you enjoy your volunteer experience.
