Eric Blank and friends from the IS 4th grade.

On Wednesday March 12, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. the Upper Moreland Intermediate School hosted an author's visit from Upper Moreland alum, attorney, and published children's author, Mr. Eric Blank.  He presented his book, The Success of Robert Fitzgibbons, to the students and faculty of the Intermediate School. The Success of Robert Fitzgibbons is an illustrated book that inspires and encourages people of all ages to discover and realize their dreams.  Eric, a 1989 graduate of Upper Moreland, attended the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Arizona Law School. The 4th grade students pictured were included in the DVD presentation of book reviews and interview questions.
More about Mr. Blank.

The students from Ms. Sheer's 3rd grade class welcomed the Frida Kahlo exhibit of Mexican culture, heritage, and art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art: which runs from February 20th thru May 18th, 2008.
Frida Kahlo painted mostly self-portraits and still lifes. Her use of vivid colors and realistic details are filled with complex symbolism related to specific incidents in her life.
The students of 3-10 enjoyed creating their self-portraits in the style of Frida Kahlo. Each picture features a favorite pet, either real or imagined. The children also designed their collage to include elements of their personality and heritage.

Upper Moreland Intermediate School students from Mrs. Elfreth's 4th grade class held a walk-a- thon in order to raise money to adopt Amur Tiger Cubs at the Philadelphia Zoo.  The class raised over $425, which enabled them to adopt the cubs, as well as provide food, medicine and toys for them.  Pictured with Mrs. Elfreth are students from her class who are anxiously waiting to receive their adoption papers.
