National Vocabulary Competition
Congratulations to Victoria Travis and Andrea Barkley who were Upper
Moreland's top scorers on the qualifying exam for the National Vocabulary
Competition! These students will represent
Upper Moreland on January 19 at the Regional Competition in Philadelphia.
EarthKAM Klimate Analysis Mission

Eighth grade science students were given the opportunity to
compete in a mission sponsored by ISS EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired
by Middle school students). This program is a part of
NASA's education program, and it enables students, teachers and the public
to learn about Earth from the unique perspective of space. At the core of
the program is a spectacular collection of digital images of Earth. The
image collection and accompanying learning guides and activities are
extraordinary resources to support classes in Earth science, space science,
geography, social studies, mathematics, and communications.
Two Upper Moreland students, Justin Brown and Robert Goold, chose to
participate in this ISS EarthKAM Mission. The focus of their mission
was The Urbanization of Upper Moreland, and they produced and submitted the
EarthKAM Klimate Analysis Mission hotlinked above.
Congratulations to these students for completing the mission successfully,
and many thanks to Ms. Gregory and Mrs. Petrash for their support and
guidance throughout the development of the presentation.
2007 FIRST Lego League Robotic Competition
Sixteen Upper Moreland students will be participating in
the
2007 FIRST Lego League Robotic Competition. Many thanks to the
Upper Moreland
Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education
(UM PAGE) for their sponsorship and financial support of these students.
Thanks also to the
Upper Moreland Educational Foundation for awarding UM PAGE a grant to
support this project. The following students chose to
participate this year:

Steven Dutter, Andy Nyholm, Curtis McPeak, Matt Salazar, Jiarui Wang, and
