November 2007Over thirty Upper Moreland high school students participated in the National Vocabulary Challenge during the month of October. On Monday, November 5, these students will be taking the In-School Qualifying Exam. The top scorers of this exam will go on to compete at the Philadelphia Regional Competition on January 19. The following students participated in this Ninth Period offering and should be congratulated for their efforts:
November is also an opportunity for
gifted upperclassmen to offer guidance and advice to freshman gifted
students. There are three Ninth Period sessions scheduled for this
social and informal sharing among students. On November 28, gifted students interested in the arts will be accompanying eleventh grade Honors English students to the opera, Cosi fan tutte. Prior to attending this jointly planned field trip, students interact with the Academy of Vocal Arts performers in workshops at the high school so students can have a thorough understanding of the opera before seeing it. As always, if you have suggestions or programs that you think will benefit gifted high school students, please email the information to Mrs. Hanssens.
