- Count the number of objects,
counting on from a given number and understanding equivalence (skip
counting 2,4,6,8…;
start with 8 and count on to 20; identify which number in greater and
less than in comparing something)
- Name coins, penny, nickel, dime that are in a group
of change. Give your child opportunities to handle the change from
making purchases, have your child collect ten pennies and make an exchange
for a dime.
- Understanding measurement involves; reading a time
of o’clock and reading the time from digital clock, identifying the
date for the day and naming the days of the week. Provide opportunity
to measure with kitchen tools, like spoons, cups, scale and talk about
which amount is less and greater than. Use the tape measure to
measure stuff outside.
- Identify shapes sitting in the dentist or doctors’ office,
sitting in a restaurant or movie theater. Use the words above,
below, between, near to, before, after, under and over.
- Look at food labels and discuss charts, graphs or numbers that
are given as information.
- Look and identify any kind of patterns that are round. These
patterns are in numbers, shapes, design.
- Addition and subtraction stories
like, there are 5 ears of corn and only 4 are eaten, how many are left
over?
