ENGLISH 9 academic LIST OF REQUIRED SUMMER READING
To continue the development of critical reading skills necessary for success, students entering the ninth grade Academic program are expected to read one of the following works during the summer.  In September, students will complete a project of some kind related to the summer reading.

Although many of these authors' works have translated well into film, the movie is never a substitute for the book.  Our interest as readers is not only in the story but in the way that the story is told.  The written word holds the key to understanding.
