Upper Moreland High School Scholarship Information

*American Chemical Society:
100 scholarships up to $5,000.00/yr will be awarded to African American, Hispanic, and Native American students pursuing an undergraduate college degree in the chemical sciences.  Information and application are available in Guidance and on-line at www.acs.org/scholars.

*American Heritage Federal Credit Union:
5 - $1,000.00 community scholarships will be awarded to graduating High School seniors who will be attending a post-secondary institution. Applicants must be FCU members.  Information and application are available in Guidance and on-line at www.amhfcu.orgApplication deadline is 4-04-2008.

*Asian American Women’s Coalition:
Cecilia Moy Yep College Scholarship:  $5,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to an Asian American female high school senior meeting criteria of 3.0 GPA, extracurricular activities and financial need.  Applications and more information are available in Guidance and www.aawc.us
Application postmark deadline is March 31, 2008.

*Bucks County School of Beauty Culture Inc.:
Two $3,500.00 scholarships will be awarded to seniors pursing an Associate degree.  Applicants should meet the following criteria; must have at least a 2.5 GPA, have no recorded history of disciplinary and/or violent behavior, able to provide their own transportation to school, have parent/guardian permissions to apply and attend a Pre-admissions presentation (tour) at the school, and must maintain satisfactory progress in this school. Commerce American Dream Scholarships: 225 - $1,000.00 annual scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors.  Scholarship applicants are evaluated on the following: academic achievement (minimum 3.0 GPA) and service to the community.  Interested students can apply on-line at commerceonline.com/americandream.

*Delaware Valley Association of School Business Officials:
DVASBO offers an annual scholarship of $2,500.00 to financially assist high school seniors interested in pursing a career in business. Information and application are available in Guidance. Deadline for applications is April 18, 2008.

*Best Buy Scholarship: Scholarships will be awarded to high school students who are “well-rounded” and have given back to their community.  To learn more, visit www.bestbuy.com/scholarshipsApplication deadline is February 15, 2008.

Big 33 Scholarship Foundation, Inc.: Big 33 scholarships provide financial assistance to HS seniors who exhibit excellence in a well-rounded educational and extracurricular program.  You must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and plan to continue your education beyond HS.  Applications are available only on-line at www.big33.org .  Application deadline is February 1, 2008.

Burger King Scholars Program:  $1,000 Scholarships are awarded to qualifying HS seniors.  To obtain information about eligibility criteria, please visit www.bk.com/scholars. Applications are available on-line 10/15/07-2/15/08.

Commerce American Dream  Scholarships: 225 $1,000 annual scholarships will be awarded graduating seniors.  Scholarship applicants are evaluated on the following: academic achievement (min 3.0) and service to the community.  Interested students can apply on-line at commerceonline.com/americandream.

*Devon Health Services, Inc.
4th Annual Devon Scholars Scholarship Contest: scholarships offered to three high school seniors interested in pursing a career in the healthcare industry.  Scholarship candidates must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be a legal resident of the United States, and enrolling in pursing health-related studies.  Information and application are available in Guidance and on-line at www.devonhealth.comAll applications must be postmarked by April 11, 2008.

*FIRSTRUST Samuel Green Scholarship Program: Eligible scholarship applicants include any high school senior who plans to attend a four year college.  Scholarship awards will range from $1,000.00 - $10,000.00.  Essay or short video is required. *Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia:
University/College Scholarships for Students of Greek Descent or Declared Majors in Greek Studies: undergraduate scholarships will be awarded to students with outstanding academic qualifications and financial need. *Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards: annual search for America’s top Hispanic/Latino high school seniors in 12 regions across the country. Currently, there are 6 categories; Business, Education, Engineering & Mathematics, Journalism, Leadership and Sports.  All students must apply online at www.hispanicheritage.org by Friday, March 14, 2008.

*Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc.
Five $2,500.00 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors. Interested applicants must  submit an essay, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a 2.5 or higher GPA, enroll in a four-year college or university, and must demonstrate leadership abilities through participating in community services, extra curricular or other activities.  Information and application are available in Guidance. The postmark deadline is March 15, 2008.

*Labs are Vital: Win a $2,500.00 scholarship, $1,000.00 scholarship or an iPhone by submitting a video, advertisement, or T-shirt design that causes others to consider a career in clinical lab science.  Contest information is available at www.LabScienceCareer.comDeadline is March 7, 2008.

Bob Schiller Service Scholarship Award: Upper Moreland High School is a participant of Coaches v. Caner School Initiative Program. This new annual $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has demonstrated a personal commitment to community or public service. Information and application is available in Guidance. Application deadline is May 15, 2008.

Masonic Scholarships: (Pennsylvania Youth Foundation of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Penna.): Scholarship, grant, and loan opportunities are available primarily for Masons, their siblings, children, grandchildren, and members of the Masonic-related youth groups.  Scholarship descriptions/applications are available in Guidance or on the website, www.pagrandlodge.org/pmyfApplication deadlines range from March to May.

* Mervyn Sluizer, Jr. Scholarship: provides  a $1,000.00 scholarships to Boy Scouts and former Boy Scouts who have maintained the rank of Eagle  and wish to pursue higher education.
The applicant must have been active in Boy Scouts of America for at least 5 years, and currently active; have attained the rank of Eagle, demonstrated responsible leadership as a Scout for at least one year, exemplify the ideals of Scouting in his life and activities, and be a resident in the 8 county Philadelphia metropolitan area which includes: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties. Program details and application are available in Guidance. Application must be postmarked by May 1, 2008.

Montgomery-Bucks Family and Consumer Sciences Association: $500. College Scholarship is available for a high school senior interested in a career in Family and Consumer Sciences.  Applications are available in Guidance… Deadline is March 25, 2008.

Montgomery County Medical Society Alliance: Nursing tuition grants are available for students who are accepted to an accredited school offering a RN or BSN program who qualify for aid.  Applications are available in Guidance…Deadline is April 14, 2008.

Montgomery County School Nurses’ Association: $1,000. College Scholarship is available for a deserving high school senior who plans on becoming a professional nurse.  Applications are available in Guidance…Deadline is March 10, 2008.

National Federation of the Blind (NFB): offers thirty  $3,000 - $12,000. National Scholarships and 2-$1,000 scholarships to Pennsylvania residents are granted annually to blind students who plan to pursue college.  Information and applications available in Guidance or on-line at www.nfb.org/scholarshipsDeadline is August 1, 2008.

*Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC): offers students the opportunity to earn their degree and receive valuable leadership and management skills.  Selected applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 17 years of age, take the ACT or SAT test (minimum scores required). Interested students can apply online at www.nrotc.navy.mil.

*PHEAA-Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency – New Economy Technology Scholarship Program: (NETS) provides scholarships for Pennsylvania students who are pursuing higher education and training in science and technology fields. Two scholarships, $1,000 - $3,000 per year will be awarded to Pennsylvania students with a 3.0 GPA. Interested students may apply on-line a www.pheaa.org.  Application deadline is December 31, 2008.

PICPA Foundation Scholarship: Thirteen (13) scholarships ranging from $200. - $1,000. will be available to high school seniors based on an essay they write expressing their views on current business events.  Additional information is available in Guidance.  Application deadline is March 7, 2008.

SAMMY “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year” Scholarship: 25 outstanding scholar athletes will be selected to receive a $7,500 scholarship!  High school seniors will be judged on the following criteria: academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, and what role milk plays in your life.  SAMMY applications will only be accepted on-line at www.sammy.bodybymilk.comApplication deadline is March 7, 2008.

Sun Trust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes: $1,000.scholarships! Free to enter and eligibility is not based on GPA or financial need. One winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 31, 2007 to May 15, 2008.  Visit www.offtocollege.info for complete details.

*TWIGS, Inc. North Montgomery County Chapter: grants scholarships to college/trade school bound African-American seniors who have displayed academic strength, community involvement, career goals and financial need. Information and applications are available in Guidance. Deadline is March 31, 2008.

United Steelworkers (Hugh Carcella) Scholarship: Six $4,000. scholarships.  Must be the sour or daughter of United Steelworker- District 10 planning to attend college I Fall 2008.  Application may be obtained from participating local unions.  Application deadline is March 15, 2008.  General information is available in Guidance.

*Upper Moreland Township Police Benevolent Association (UMTPBA Scholarship Program: $1,000. scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to pursue a career in criminal justice who best demonstrates academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and community service.  Applications are available in Guidance.  Application deadline is March 15, 2008

*Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Institute – Penn State University:
WISE Camp 2007 is a residential week-long camp with the goal of introducing young women to science and engineering as careers and college majors.
