Word Study

Students need opportunities to investigate language and develop a love of words. Activities during this block are designed to build vocabulary, illustrate word patterns, and develop handwriting skills. Application of this knowledge in authentic contexts is the primary goal. Students are taught proofreading skills that focus on word choice, spelling, punctuation, and legible handwriting.
