Speaking and Listening

Oral language provides the foundation for reading and writing development as well as being an essential skill for everyday life. Students need to listen carefully and consider thoughtfully the responses of others. They need to learn the elements of effective discussions and conversations. Elements of effective listening and speaking are modeled, practiced, and reinforced through a variety of classroom experiences each day.
