Purpose
It is the policy of this Board that open lines of communication be maintained with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit number 23 in order to ensure maximum effectiveness of cooperative programs. The Board has maintained a long standing cooperative relationship with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and looks forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of the students of Upper Moreland.
Authority
Each district has an opportunity to actively participate in the service programs offered by the intermediate unit.
Selection of Board Members
The Upper Moreland Board of Directors will nominate one candidate for a three year term. The term begins on July 1st and continues through June 30th. Once a candidate is nominated at the local board meeting, the candidate must complete a Candidate Nomination Form. Upper Moreland’s Board Secretary must sign the form and return it to the IU.
In May, the IU will mail ballots listing the names of the nominees for the open seats to all school district board members. The Upper Moreland School Board members will cast their votes and return the ballot to the IU. Based on the results, the IU then appoints the nominated local board member to the IU board. The newly elected Board member takes his seat effective July 1st and attends the first IU Board meeting in August.
