Purpose
Maintaining levels of classified staff to effectively operate the educational program of the district is a Board responsibility.  The purpose of this policy is to establish the manner in which the necessary reductions of that staff will be accomplished.

Authority
Consistent with law, negotiated contracts, and administrative guidelines, the Board has the authority and responsibility to determine how suspensions and layoffs will be made.

Fringe Benefits Guidelines
Employees suspended or laid off due to reductions in force may continue self-paid district insurance in accordance with COBRA guidelines.
