Title: Family Living /Human Development Program
Date Adopted: March 12, 1979
Date Reviewed: September 23, 2003

Purpose
The Board believes that Family Living instruction should:

  1. be a part of the public school program.
  2. be shared by the public schools, home and other institutions.

The primary purpose of Family Living instruction is:

  1. to promote more constructive family and interpersonal relationships.
  2. to help young people understand their physiological and psychological development.
  3. to develop wholesome, healthy habits and moral values.

Authority
The Board believes that Family Living is a continuing process throughout life and therefore must be planned for the entire school experience of the child.  The Board, therefore, recommends that these concepts not necessarily be limited to one course of study, but should be integrated into all subjects where applicable.
