Title: Student Representative to the Board of School Directors

The Board of School Directors recognizes that the students attending the School District of Upper Moreland Township are a most important concern of the district. The Board establishes the position of associate student representative to the Board of School Directors to maintain a communications link between itself and the student body and to present the students’ viewpoint. The student associate shall be seated on the Board in a non-voting capacity and is invited to attend the Board of School Directors agenda conferences, work sessions and monthly Board meetings. Student board representatives shall not participate or attend executive sessions of the Board.

Selection
The student council at the senior high school will recommend to the principal, a student to serve as associate student representative to the Board. Upon recommendation of the principal, the Board will confirm the recommended representative.

Qualifications
The associate student representative shall:

  • be a member of the senior high school student body and a member in good standing of the student council.
  • be a resident of the school district and a citizen of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • be willing to devote the time and energy necessary to adequately represent his/her student body at board functions.
  • maintain satisfactory grades in all subjects while serving as a student representative.

Term of Office
The term of office of the student board representative shall be for a period beginning September 1 of the year of appointment and terminating the following June 30.

Succession
Vacant positions shall be filled under the provisions set forth in the selection section with tenure for the remaining portion of the original term.
