The Concert Band is a proficient level performing group for second year players and an advanced group for first year players. Student qualification is based on proficient progress demonstrated in lessons. The proficient level student is able to demonstrate and apply required skills with accuracy and musicianship with minimal teacher support. The proficient level student is starting to develop independent skills. This group will learn intermediate level band literature. Advanced musical techniques will be introduced and discussed. Concert Band members will begin to learn how to apply techniques in their musicianship skills. This organization will have the opportunity to perform at UMIS's in-school holiday programs through a combined performance, along with the Wind and Percussion Ensemble.  In the spring, the Concert Band will be featured at “Music Fest II 2011.”
